#5 for me
A suggestion would be to change the diameter of the O to be the same as the height of the text.
I think this is the most flexible in the sense that it can be used in many different
applications. It also is a strong graphic mark, it has visual impact.
Number 3 is an attention getter and it instantly communicates purpose; two elements that are critical in communicating effectively.
I really like number 1, but at small size it will not come out well. Number 5 is simple, visible at any scale, and expresses openness. Also, it reminds me of the Hudsucker Proxy.
Maybe what you should ask is, “What existing brands or trademarks will these designs infringe upon?” Then remove those from consideration.
7,5, & 1 in that order. Good submissions by all though. Do we get a chance to submit or are the gates closed?
#5 works for me
#1 and #5 are my favorites. No great reasoning a to why though
I like 3 & 5 as they look very clean and modern.
I am a fan of #3. Was a fan from when I saw the tweet.
#5 has a nice look to it.
In short, #3 seems to work nicely for branding purposes.
7
Really like #3 – maybe a different font but the rest is good.
I like #2 the best. It’s clean and has a nice Web2.0 look.
#1. by a mile.
#5 interesting if the circle was also the O in Open. Would benefit from richer tones in colors. Not a lightweight / “pastel” topic.
Number three is the one for me.
#2, is recognizable.
#5 is the best typographically, color and system wise, but #7 is probably the most ownable mark. I would push the color palette and think of it more as an identity system like #5 is doing.
Cheers,
Todd
I would choose number 2. It is a simple design with a bit of style. It reminds me of the Detroit Red Wings logo. If I did the design I would have probably used small caps instead of upper and lower case letters, but that is my only criticism. The more life like wing designs are attractive, but appear too much like something I see at church.
I like 5. In action it looks like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaeltroy/4108943918/ Not sure where I got that link but I think it was @PaulaMarttila
(One more to try to vote…) #5, already favorited it on Flickr, makes great stickers and stuff, too! #1 reminds a bit of http://angelsforum.com – on the upside they say to belong to the good ones not charging startups to pitch
Number 1
No 5. Sorry, yes it’s my design.
I KNOW this visual concept will work across a wide and varied range of media and applications. (please see http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaeltroy/4108943918/).
When I design, I tend to think in about the whole visual system, meaning not just the logo. I’m always asking “how will this work with stickers, tshirts, banners, conference material, websites, print etc etc”.
Yes, it is slightly abstract and conceptual – but really, it also isn’t at the same time.
If not my design, I would vote #3.
Thanks
Everyone, please feel free to remix my webpage mockup for the Open Angel Forum initiative. Add your own logo etc http://bit.ly/3RXp89 #oaf
#5 is good, I would get rid of the current color scheme is looks like, National Geographic.
Number 5, yellow circle with black text.
This logo seems to be the only logo in the set that can be applied to more than one treatment. The idea promotes the angel theme subtlety without being obvious which gives it a versatility.
I’ve got to go with #7. It’s the cleanest and least pretentious of the lot.
#2, energetic and relevant.
#1 does it for me.. A lot of them are too fussy design wise..
#3 is excellent, young, clean and stylish, great for separating OAF from other VC forums (too serious-business looking design)
There are few I liked, but they resembled other brands or they were alittle to generic.
#7, not my first pick, but the best overall. It holds its own identity.
Guys, I really like #5, #7 is good too, but #5 more welcoming. I think the Angel wings can be misleading.
#7. Of those posted, that stands out by far.
5
#5. Without over thinking, It just quickly resonated with me.
#7 for me
#5 ALL THE WAY. I would lose the gold color option though. As stated above it is reminiscent of Nat’l Geo.
#5 and #7 for sure. But 5 is better.
The “Open” part is more important than the “Angel” part, right? The circle is very welcoming, and I like logos that let you brand different products/segments/whatever with the same logo or similar logo with different colors.
I love the simplicity of #5 & #7. My preference is for #5, in the gold color.
Definitely 5 then 7. Some generally amazing submissions overall though.
Number 5 for me – it gives the possibility also to have have sections/areas color coded within the site…..looking forward to see what develops here!
Number 1 is strong but Number 2 is stronger. I can see Tyler wearing a baseball cap with the winged logo.
#5 – some of the others have taken a bit much inspiration from the plastic gun in terms of tone / culture, which I don’t think is the intention i.e. you want to be professional, simple & transparent
#5 looks the cleanest and most professional. #oaf FTW
#1 and #5. I think the choice should be narrowed down to 2-3 suggestions and then let people have a vote

#8 is now open source.

Definitely number 5 or 7.
Out of those two, I prefer 7.
At first I liked #5 until I realized that the circle is too non-unique to be recognizable in smaller sizes. That lead me to #2; it’s the cleanest and clearest, and it will be easily recognizable at small sizes.
The others, while some are cool, and not nearly as usable as #2.
no. 5
#5 followed by #3.
#5 for sure, the rest are pretty bad.
I like #9. (#2 bears a little too much resemblance to the Detroit Redwings logo.)
#5 is also good. The rest are pretty weak.
